Mary looks around the yard and sees happiness everywhere. Anna and Jackie are playing on the swings with all their friends, the men are over talking by the BBQ about what, who knows and Mary is chatting with three moms, her closest friends but she realizes she is day dreaming and not fully engaged.
Mary is so happy to have a fun, relaxing afternoon like this with her family and closest friends but she can’t stop thinking about last night. Last night, Gary surprised her, surprised her with a night out that was so long overdue. Yesterday morning he said he had a surprise for her and they were going out tonight but don’t ask any questions he said. At 4PM … he told her to ‘dress nice’ which is about as good of a description as she was going to get from Gary … or any man for that matter … and be ready by 6.
The doorbell rang at 5:55, a driver, Gary ordered a car for them. This was totally our of character for Gary but so nice. Off to dinner at this quiet, romantic restaurant two towns over, again, so unlike Gary. They chatted, they kissed, they held hands and laughed and when dinner was done, another surprise … dancing. Gary hated going dancing but tonight was all about Mary.
It was late, after 1 when the driver dropped them off but Anna and Jackie would watch TV in the morning and let them sleep in. Mary couldn’t fall asleep, she replayed the night over and over … so romantic, so unlike Gary but so much like the Gary of old. So happy she was.
Mary … Mary … do you want a hamburger or a hotdog? Snapping back to reality, Mary stammers, ‘a hotdog is fine’ to Joan as she took orders for lunch. With a glass of win in one hand and her other playing with her Infinity Cross Necklace, Mary realized that she was totally engulfed in her day dream about her evening with Gary.
